Memorial Day Parade 5/28
Memorial Day Parade 5/28
Posted on 05/18/2023
The 55th Annual Cheshire Memorial Day Parade will be held on Sunday, May 28th, at
1:30 p.m. The Parade Committee has announced the theme of this year’s parade will be the”
70th Anniversary of the End of the Korean War”. The Honorary Co-Grand Marshals for 2023
will be Fred Coughlan and Rene Gagnon, two Cheshire residents and Korean War veterans
who will represent their Korean War comrades.
The Parade Committee is asking Korean War veterans to contact Parade Co-Marshal
Leslie Marinaro (
[email protected]
) and also any veterans who want to
participate in Division 1 in the parade, the section where all veterans honor those who sacrificed
all. All veteran cars participating in the parade will have signage on both side doors allowing
parade-goers the opportunity to acknowledge them as they are driven down Route 10.
Parade Co-Marshal and Commander of American Legion Post 92, Don Falk will be
riding with the 2023 Parade Chaplain, Chaplain Randy Tapp of the American Legion. Division
Commanders will be Leslie Marinaro, Danielle and Dylan DeNuzzo, Tom Marinaro and Andrew
Martelli. The Parade will be part of many Memorial Day weekend events in Town starting with
the Wreath Ceremony at the Cheshire Congregational Green at 11:00 and Flags Across
Cheshire where flags are placed on veteran cemeteries at 1:00 p.m., both on Saturday May 27th.
The Cheshire Park & Recreation Department is now seeking businesses and organizations who
would like to participate in the 2023 Parade. Previous participants and newcomers can call the
Park & Rec Department at 203-272-2743 or send an email to Stephanie Dunn at
[email protected]
to reserve your space in the 2023 Memorial Day Parade. All groups
MUST RSVP (even if you march every year) so the division commanders will be aware of how
many people to expect in their division.
There will be no rain date for the parade, however, plans will be made for a Motorcade of
Veterans at a later date, to be announced if weather conditions cause a cancellation on Parade
Day.
