The Town of Cheshire Fair Rent Commission, in accordance with Public Act No. 22-30, is composed of five (5) volunteers. Of these five appointed members:
At least one (1) shall be a licensed realtor or licensed real estate appraiser in Connecticut;
At least one (1) shall be a tenant;
At least one (1) shall be a landlord.
All members shall serve two-year terms. The purpose of the Commission is to regulate and eliminate excessive rental charges for residential properties within the Town of Cheshire. The Commission shall receive complaints, make studies and investigations, and conduct hearings relative to excessive rental charges on Cheshire housing accommodations, except those rented on a seasonal basis, to control and eliminate excessive rental charges on and to carry out the provisions of C.G.S. §§ 7-148b to 7-148f, inclusive, C.G.S. § 47a-20 and Subsection (b) of C.G.S. § 47a-23c. Meetings will be held as needed to hear and investigate complaints.
