The Town of Cheshire has a Town Council/Town Manager form of government.

Town Councilors are volunteer elected officials who serve two year terms.  The Council is the Town of Cheshire's legislative body, responsible for local ordinances, regulations, and policies, and for the Town budgets.  The current nine member Council serves until December 6, 2021.

The Town Council hires a Town Manager who manages the executive and administrative functions of the municipality and supervises all Town departments.
