Important Notice: Online Tax Payment System
Important Notice: Online Tax Payment System
Posted on 01/30/2024
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS:
The online payment system mytaxbill.org is used by Tax Collector’s throughout the entire State of Connecticut. The volume of taxpayers attempting to pay online the last few days of January and the first day of February may result in the online payment system not being available to make payments during peak times. If you are unable to make your payment online, please utilize one of the following payment methods –
1)
Come to the tax office and pay with cash, check, credit or debit card between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM through February 1, 2024. The Tax Office will close at 4:00 PM on February 1, 2024 (the last day to pay without statutory interest being added to your account).
2)
Place a check in the drop box located on the grassy circle of Town Hall on or before February 1, 2024. The drop box will not be available for payments beginning February 2, 2024. Taxpayers will be required to come into the Tax Office to obtain an updated amount due including statutory interest through February 29, 2024.
3)
Mail your check inside the Post Office on or before February 1, 2024 and ask the Post Office to stamp it with an Official US Postmark. (Metered mail DOES NOT contain an Official US Postmark therefore if payment is not received by the Tax Office on or before February 1, 2024 statutory interest must be added to the account).
DO NOT SCHEDULE PAYMENT THROUGH YOUR ONLINE BANKING SYSTEM. ACH PAYMENTS DO NOT CONTAIN AN OFFICIAL US POSTMARK THEREFORE IF THE PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED BY THE TAX OFFICE ON FEBRUARY 1, 2024, IT MUST BE CONSIDERED LATE AND CHARGED INTEREST PER CT STATE STATUTE.
