Community Programs and Services

The Cheshire Police Department offers a wide variety of programs and services to help keep our residents safe and informed. 


Fingerprinting Services:

All Cheshire residents and individuals employed by, or seeking employment with, a business in the Town of Cheshire, may come to the Cheshire Police Department and have their fingerprints taken.  Fingerprinting services are available on Mondays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.   There is a $5.00 fee for fingerprinting services and valid photo identification is required.  Applicants are required to pre-enroll with the Connecticut Criminal History Request System at https://ct.flexcheck.us.idemia.io/cchrspreenroll 
Applicant will use a service code provided by the agency asking them to be printed, and will be issued an Applicant Tracking Number that they should print and bring to the Cheshire Police Department.

Note for Pistol Permit Applicants:  Fingerprints will only be taken when a complete application packet is ready to be turned in.  The Cheshire Police Department will provide the service code for Pistol Permit Applicants; please provide a cashier's check in the amount of $70.00 payable to the Town of Cheshire.  All other associated fees will be paid through the enrollment process.

Citizen's Police Academy

Information will be posted here when the Academy can be offered again.


Child Safety Seat Inspections:

Contact Officer Kristian Johnson at (203) 271-5544 to schedule an appointment and please arrange to bring your child and all safety seat instructions to the inspection.

Rape Aggression Defense Class (R.A.D.):

 "RAD" is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.  Contact Cara Fortier or Gretchen Ovesny by email, or call (203) 271-5500 to inquire about upcoming classes.

 


Guided Tours of Police Headquarters will be available pursuant to COVID restrictions.
